Buddah

Buddah Records was founded in 1967 by Neil Bogart, Artie Ripp, and Bob Reno in New York City. Initially focused on pop and rock music, the label quickly gained prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s, becoming known for its eclectic roster. Notable artists included The Lovin' Spoonful, The 5th Dimension, and The Partridge Family, who contributed to the label's success with chart-topping hits. Buddah also ventured into the burgeoning genres of soul and funk, signing acts like The Stylistics. In the mid-1970s, Buddah faced challenges due to changing musical tastes and industry dynamics, leading to its acquisition by the PolyGram label in 1980. Despite its eventual decline, Buddah's legacy endures through its influential contributions to the pop and soul genres, and it remains a significant part of the history of American music. The label was reactivated in the 1990s, continuing to release music from its catalog.
