Sparton Records was founded in 1946 by the Sparton Corporation, originally known for manufacturing radios and phonographs. The label initially focused on producing popular music and jazz, quickly gaining traction in the post-war era. In the 1950s, Sparton expanded its catalog to include rock and roll, releasing records from notable artists such as The Four Lads and The Platters. Throughout the 1960s, Sparton diversified its offerings, venturing into country and folk genres, while also producing soundtracks and spoken word recordings. However, by the 1970s, the label faced increasing competition from larger companies and eventually ceased operations in the late 1970s.
